BAGINTON GARDENERS

Pea pods

Baginton Gardeners was formed in late 2011 as a response to a wish expressed by villagers in the Parish Plan Survey. Baginton Gardeners is open to anyone in the village and surrounding areas. Some events will be for members only while others will be open to visitors as well. The aim of the group as expressed in the Constitution is “the encouragement and enjoyment of horticulture by such means as the committee may determine and to advise on horticultural matters.” To this end the Committee arrange a varied programme of meetings, visits and activities of interest to all gardeners.

The first speaker meeting was held at the Baginton Royal British Legion on 23rd January 2012 with Brian Ellis of Avondale Nursery giving a very enjoyable in interesting talk entitled “Texture and Foliage in the Garden.” Our final meeting for 2012 was a talk in November by Linda Smith of Waterside Nursery on "Water in Small Garden Spaces".

We set up a visit to Highgrove and a conducted tour of Russell’s Quarry Gardens. With funds now available through subscriptions and sales of plants at the Christmas Fair, we have also started investing in our future programme. These can be found on the Events page
